Introduction of the Course Instructor: Rakhshan Banietemad

Rakhshan Banietemad, a graduate in film directing from the Dramatic Arts University in 1980, introduced herself to Iranian cinema with the film "Off the Limits". In 1991, she made "Nargess", a daring film that established her as a socially conscious filmmaker and won her the Best Director award at the Fajr Film Festival, marking a strong beginning for her subsequent films. "Canary Yellow", "Foreign Currency", "The Blue Veiled", "The Lady of May", "Under the Skin of the City", "Gilaneh", "Mainline", and "Tales" are among her other works. She has received awards including the first prize at the Italy Comedy Film Festival, Thessaloniki Film Festival International Critics Award, Best Asian Woman Director at the Delhi Film Festival, Special Jury Prize at the Moscow Film Festival, Netpac Award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Special Jury Prize at the Las Palmas International Film Festival in Spain, Best Director Award from the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, Honorary Doctorate from the University of London, Best Screenplay at the Venice Film Festival, and more.

However, this extensive filmmaking career is not the sum of her achievements; alongside conducting numerous educational workshops, she has also directed and produced remarkable documentary works such as "To Whom Do You Show These Films?", " Kahrizak 4 Views", "Angels of the House of Sun", "We Are Half of Iran's Population", "Our Times", "All My Trees", and "Hey, Humans".
