Zahra Emrani

Zahra Emrani has been active in the areas of entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship for over 10 years. She received her bachelor’s degree in software engineering, but from early on she was interested in social and civil activities. Upon graduation she stared working for Noandish Research Institute which was working in economic and entrepreneurship areas. Alongside practical experience and in order to acquire scientific experience in the field of management and entrepreneurship, she continued her studies at Allameh Tabatabaei University to receive an MS in Executive Management, and devoted her thesis to “Prioritizing the Factors Influencing Social Entrepreneurship in Iran”. Her interest in social and civil activities that has now taken a more serious and more professional form along with her belief in the role of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the economic and social development of the country, caused her in 2010 to travel to the US in order to improve her knowledge as well as to gain international experience by receiving her second MS degree, this time in Non-Profit Management. While studying in the US, she started working for NGOs, and upon graduation, she worked for 2 years as researcher, advisor and project manager in a number of recognized American NGOs.

After returning to Iran in 2014, she started working as manager of NGO projects and international relations at The Entrepreneurship Development Foundation for Women and Youth. Currently she is working as a member of the Board of Trustees at Raad Rehabilitation Goodwill Complex and as member of the board of directors at Arasteh Foundation. Teaching workshops on NGO management is among her instructional activities.

Due to her deep belief in the importance of role-modelling and motivation, Zahra joined the Karestan Project right from the start.
